January and February are busy months for brides and grooms searching for their dream wedding venue.   I  would like to share with you some photos from a castle location in the Dordogne, Chateau Mas de Montet which we visited last year.

A lot of couples set their hearts on a dream wedding in Europe. Selecting a wedding venue is not an easy feat in normal circumstances and so I thought I would help by sharing a beautiful place I discovered.

I visited Chateau Mas de Montet and this venue captures French Country with hints of Vintage with just the faintest sprinkling of glamour.  The venue perfectly suits the current trend of French Country & Vintage yet is a 5* venue providing the best facilities for a wedding celebration.

We embarked upon a tour of some the most stunning chateaus and castles in the Dordogne and Charente Maritime regions. Chateau Le Mas de Montet is set in the idyllic Dordogne countryside yet just a five minute drive drom the charming town of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. We also met Lise, the charming and welcoming owner. This stylishly sophisticated accommodation combined with the option of the exclusive use of the venue (which sleeps up to 30) over a weekend makes this venue a high contender for a couple looking for the perfect romantic French Country wedding.

For a couple looking for enough external space for an outdoor ceremony, Chateau Mas de Montet certainly fits the bill as it is surrounded by 130 acres of glorious parkland and ancient woodland.  The shaded pool area is also the perfect setting for an aperitif prior to the wedding ceremony.

Aubeterre-sur-Dronne just a very short drive away, is one of ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’ and is a magnificent place to just relax, have and watch the world go by.  A stay in this region offers the opportunity to explore the Dordogne, Charente Maritime and  Bordeaux. We had a very leisurely lunch in Aubeterre at the wonderful Hôtel de France.

We are very tempted to go back there this summer for a romantic weekend break…lets see how the renovation project goes and if there is any time to squeeze in a pampering break.
